This Sunday marks the 20th Dodge the Deer 5K and Kids Races! Here's what you need to know:

PRE-RACE PACKET PICK-UP/REGISTRATION
Friday (6/24) from 4pm to 6pm at the ARE Event Productions Office
21A Railroad Avenue, Albany, NY 12205

Beat the craziness of race day by picking up your bib and giveaway* ahead of time.
*This year's giveaway (for 5K registrants) is a race / select ARE apparel grab bag! We will have awesome merchandise from nearly all ARE races, including hoodies, towels, blankets, and more.

RACE DAY PACKET PICK-UP/REGISTRATION
You do not have to get your materials prior to race day. You can also get them on race day from 8:30am to 9:30am.
New registrations will be accepted on-site. ($40)

RACE LOCATION - Schodack Island State Park
It's located just off Route 9J in Columbia County, 7 miles south of Route 20. About 25 minutes from the I87/I90 interchange.

PARKING AT THE EVENT
If you pre-purchased a parking pass, you will receive a separate email that you will show when you enter the park. (Either on your phone or print it.)
If you did not pre-purchase a parking pass, NYS Parks charges a $6 admission fee per vehicle. If you have an Empire Pass, don't forget to bring it. (It's an annual NYS Parks pass.) Otherwise do note that the park will be collecting this upon entry. It goes directly to the park.
 

POST RACE FEAST/BBQ
We supply the buns, burgers and dogs (and veggie versions). We ask that you consider contributing as well by bringing a dish to share. All runners are invited to partake. If you have others with you that are not registered participants, we respectfully request that you have them bring their own items to munch on. This both ensures food for all the registered runners and keeps the lines a bit shorter.

THE WEATHER
A beautiful morning that will be warming up throughout the day.
Temps will be in the mid 70s when you arrive and reach the low 80s by the time things wrap up. (Do be aware that later that day it will be around 90 degrees.)

START TIMES
9:15am - 200m Sprint for the real young kids (3 and under)
9:30am - Mile Fun Run (preferred for 12 and under)
10:00am - Dodge the Deer 5K (Any and all!)

Plan to arrive at least 30 minutes prior to the start of the first race you (or your child, etc.) are running.

MISCELLANEOUS
This event was our very first, back in 2003. Since that very first running, our mission remains to create fun and memorable events. Enjoy meeting Dodge the Deer & friends. Take pictures. Enjoy the music and family friendly, all-welcoming atmosphere. Smile. :)
